Jaguar XF 2012 Facelift

The 2012 Jaguar XF facelift marked a pivotal moment for the British marque, finally aligning the XF's aesthetics with its dynamic prowess. Introduced at the 2011 New York Auto Show, the refreshed XF ditched the somewhat controversial headlights of its predecessor in favor of sleeker, more assertive units reminiscent of the flagship XJ. Personally, I've always felt Jaguar's design team truly found their stride here, crafting a sedan that looked as fast as it felt, even when parked.

Under the hood, Jaguar continued to impress. The facelifted XF offered a range of powertrains, from the refined yet spirited 2.2-liter diesel, complete with stop-start technology—a first for Jaguar—to the ferocious supercharged V8 found in the XFR variant, churning out a hearty 503 horsepower. Driving the XFR was an exercise in controlled aggression; the supercharger whine, the instant torque, and the composed yet playful chassis made every drive memorable, even if it was just a mundane commute.

Technologically, the 2012 XF facelift wasn't merely cosmetic. Jaguar introduced adaptive cruise control, intelligent high-beam assist, and subtle interior refinements that elevated the cabin ambiance significantly. The rotary gear selector—initially controversial—had by now become a beloved signature, adding a theatrical flourish to every ignition cycle. While the XF didn't rewrite the rulebook entirely, its thoughtful refinements and genuine driving charisma cemented its position as a compelling alternative to its German rivals, and in my view, one of Jaguar's most underrated contemporary sedans.
